United Methodist Women

UMW's purpose is to know God, and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. United Methodist Women are organized for global mission but also do many wonderful works throughout the church and community.

CUMC United Methodist Women have a variety of on-going projects and meet one-time needs as well in the community. Some of these include:

  • Supporting a nurse in Liberia by providing money for school and expenses,
  • Giving assistance to two Methodist missionaries, one  in the African Congo and the other in Kentucky at Red Bird Mission,
  • Putting together health kits for United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR),
  • Collecting and sending gloves, hats, and scarves to Heart and Hand, and
  • Preparing and delivering meals to families of newborn babies.

We get together for fellowship on various occasions including a Fall Prayer breakfast, a Christmas Cookie exchange, a Mother-Daughter Banquet, and a special worship service on UMW Sunday.  If you are interested in becoming involved in this dynamic group of women, contact the church office (703) 527-8574 for more information.
