Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways all year long to get involved in the work of the church!  Some tasks are small, others are larger and require a specific skill set.  Some are to be done only once, others are ongoing:

  • "Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord... but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone."  1 Cornithians 12:4-6

Where might God be calling you to serve?  We will be adding new opportunities to this page, so check back often to see where you might use your gifts of time and talent!

Plot Against Hunger: Clarendon UMC is blessed to provide a Plot Against Hunger benefiting the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC).  The Outreach Committee is sponsoring and maintaining the garden, and all are welcome to come and help.  We will be planting fall vegetables later this year, and next spring we plan to grow the bed to provide  a larger harvest.  You are welcome to help as often as you like.  It's a great project to share as a group or family! If you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas please contact Catie Christiaanse, Outreach Chair (  We hope to see this garden continue to grow and integrate us with our greater community.  Thank you for being a part of this wonderful mission! Please sign-up here.

Worship Leading Opportunities (ongoing):  There are many ways to serve in worship, both at the 8:30 and 11:00 services.  We need people to give the Children's Message, read Scripture, prepare and serve Communion, acolyte (grades 3-12) and more.  If you are interested, please contact Lisa Gibbs-Smith, Director of Worship Arts.
